Barnabas, whose given name was Joseph, was a Levite from Cyprus. He is first introduced in Scripture in Acts 4:36 when he sold a field he owned and brought the money to put at the apostles’ feet. Because of such consistent acts of encouragement throughout his lifetime, the apostles called him Barnabas, “Son of Encouragement.” Barnabas’ actions demonstrate the dynamic impact of Encouragement.

Barnabas Ministries is committed to providing the Church with the appropriate resources and programs to fulfill The Great Commission. As an Encourager, we help the Church focus and train for her witness.

Our Statement of Beliefs
The Bible Tells Us…

1.  God loves you.

  • “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

2. We are sinners fallen short of God’s glory.

  • “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

3. The wages of sin is death.

  • “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

  • “…Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
    – Matthew 25:41

  • “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:15

4. Christ paid for our sins on the cross.

  • “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
    – Romans 5:8

5. We are saved by grace, through faith and not by works.

  • “Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law
we become conscious of sin.” – Romans 3:20

  • “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8

  • “And you were also included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory.” – Ephesians 1:13-14

  • “That if you confess with your mouth, ’Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” – Romans 10:9-10

6. Works (good deeds), which God prepared in advance for us, are a fruit of our salvation.

  • “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
